Trash Bag Natzee

I like to keep my things clean and organized. (I don't think you've noticed a pattern through my blog about being clean and organized.)
Anyway, while I was at work we were extremely busy and there were a few people helping me get my stuff ready. I have a trash bag I use to put my trash in when I'm working. Some people don't use theirs so will get rid of them. (Makes their table more cluttered, but to each their own.) So I ask them to please save my trash bag..........This is what I find when I walk in............Jokes on me. haha

Thanksgiving Cooking Memories

Well it sure has been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve had quite a few in my head to write but I have had no time between work and my kids to actually put them down on paper. I’m sure almost every one of you out there can completely understand that!

It is that time of year again….Thanksgiving! I’m not sure where this past year has gone. It has flown by and so much has changed.  I absolutely love this time of year!
Thanksgiving and Christmas with family and friends. All the decorations and  food preparation. Teaching my kids to cook. (the mess is definitely worth it and so is the memories we are creating!)

Among the many things my kids and I were cooking today my daughter was making pumpkin pies and I was assisting her.  She had mixed all of the ingredients together and I had already taught her how to preheat the stove so that it would be ready to go when she finished prepping.  I went to give her the pie crust and the whole thing fell apart…LITERALLY. Can you say major fail. Her face completely dropped.  I told her no problem we would just go to the store and get another one. (Which might I add if it wasn’t for her sad face I never would have even considered taking on the grocery store the day before Thanksgiving) So I called my brothers to watch my other two boys while she and I braved the crowds, which actually wasn’t too bad. We checked out and headed home. Once we got home I ever so carefully took the top off the pie crust and set it in front of her to start filling with the pumpkin filling.  She filled both pie crusts up and I helped her put them in the oven and she set the timer. She did awesome and she was so proud of herself! She made one for her grandparents and one for us to eat!  I was proud of her too. I am so thankful for my kids, my family and my friends. I hope that each one of you have a wonderful and Happy  Thanksgiving!

P.S. That pic does absolutely no justice to the pile of crumbs that were actually in our pie tin and yes I know I could have mashed it out and actually made another pie crust, but she was set on it being the perfect pumpkin pie! I would never ruin that for her :)

Making the Fall

I love sports. Watching is great, but to be involved is so-much-better!!!  I used to play soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, and I even cheered. Anything active and sport related I loved.

We have to use microscopes where I work. Plus, on top of that we have to be able to keep ourselves sterile (clean) when we use them. In order to accomplish this I put on sterile microscope handles for us to be able to move and adjust the microscope while we are working.

At the end of doing each procedure under the microscope my fellow co-worker likes to take the sterile microscope handles off and throw them to see if people can catch them. I am known for catching 2 handles in 1 hand.  Well, that wasn’t making another guy at work look good. So he decides that he will catch 3 in his hand after the next procedure. I told him how are you going to catch 3 in 1 hand if you can’t catch 2 in 1 hand?  Yeah, he caught 1 out of 3. I couldn’t help but laugh. (I wasn’t being mean. Trust me, you would have laughed too!) He then looked at me and said alright you do it. I told him that after the next procedure I would do 3 handles in 1 hand. He said, “How about right now!” GAME ON! He chucked them at me….BAM, BAM, BAM. Everyone was laughing! That’s right I caught all 3 in 1 hand! What now! He told me that was easy and he could do it.

After the next procedure I decided to kick it up another notch. (said in my best Emeril voice) I lifted one leg and put my hand in between and was gonna catch 2 handles in 1 hand through my lifted leg. My co-worker said, “I have got to see this.” I was thinking Me too! Lol   Oh well, now or never no turning back. He threw the 1st handle and Bam I caught it. He started throwing the 2nd and it slipped and curved to my right. (My left leg was lifted) I knew I couldn’t put my leg down that would defeat the purpose of the whole leg lift catch, so I went for it. I twisted my ankle as I was reaching for it and fell down smacking my knee so hard on the door my big boss in another room could here and came in to see what had happened, but none of that mattered because even while I was flat on the floor. I had caught the handles and not 1 of the handles fell on the floor. I looked at the guy and told him, “don’t try to out-do me!”

I got up and reassured everyone I was fine. Everyone was laughing including myself because if I wasn’t laughing my butt would have been crying. Oh my word it hurt soooooo bad, but I wasn’t going to let anyone know that.

The next day was my day off which is weird, I don’t normally get those, but I am definitely not complaining. I returned to work the following day and everyone had heard the story and was asking me about it, but then the good news came. They had a message to pass onto me. I was asked to join the company softball team! That right that made it all worth it!

The moral of this story is if you get hurt its ok as long as you get to play on the softball team!

Profanity at the Pool

I received an unexpected day off from work because of a death in the family where I work so they closed for the day. It was a much needed day off. My kids and I were excited to go do something. We took a vote on what we wanted to do, and opted to go to a local pool that houses diving boards and water slides. (Not bad for where we live. Hahaha)

The kids and I were swimming around in the pool and then they would take turns going down the waterslides. Just simply a gorgeous day! I kept hearing some teenage boys hollering and laughing and cutting up. Acting like normal teenage boys, but then one of them decided to drop the “F” bomb and then Sh*t, and so on, and so on.  I looked that way and he just thought it was funny and let out one more after one more. This is a family establishment, if you want to cuss on your own time, then that’s your prerogative, but when my kids and other children are around. You have no right to be using that kind of language. Respect people, its all about respect!  Don’t get me wrong I cuss occasionally. I have been trying to get better, but I definitely do NOT cuss in front of my kids.

I got up and went to the nearest life guard and informed him of the incident that was occurring and he said he would take care of it. He blew his whistle and asked the boys to come over. He told them they had a “No Profanity” rule at the pool and if they knew it. They commented, “Sorry, I can’t read! Hahahahahaha!” He continued to explain to them that if they were to do it again that they would be ban from the pool for the rest of the season.  Then he sent them on their way to finish playing.  He told me that if I had any more problems to let them know. (I might add here that he called me Ma’am, which made me feel really old because I’m only 26 people!!! I know that wasn’t an important fact to ya’ll, but it was definitely part of the story and I didn’t want to neglect from telling you the entire story.)

Anyway, beside that little incident, my kids and I had a blast!  The weather was beautiful, the water was the perfect temperature and spending time with my kids on an unexpected day off=Priceless!

Take it Old School

What happened to old school dating? What happened to the gentleman and the lady? From the guy holding doors to opening the car door. Bringing flowers for no reason and holding hands as they walk. Baking cookies for him just to let him know you care.

Sometimes it seems like we have so much advancement today that we often overlook the small details. We overlook the simple things that matter most.  We have so much at our fingertips that I wonder if we get bored? Do we forget to show we care? I mean, seriously, you can open your computer and get a date or buy flowers or pretty much anything you can think about. So why not put away some of the modern advancement and just go old school.

A simple foot massage goes a long way. A phone call just to see how the others day is going.  Leave a note with a compliment or just to say hi.  It doesn’t seem like much but it shows that you are taking time and you care.

Take a walk downtown or somewhere you both like and just talk. Get rid of the electronics and just enjoy each others company. Find out something you didn’t know about the other.

Grab a coffee and visit a bookstore. Talk about your favorite books, places you want to visit. Places you have been and would want to take the other.

Go and pick a movie together and curl up on the couch with each other. Pop some popcorn and eat some candy. Make it movie night at the house sometimes.

My point is to get rid of the advancements-computers, phones, iPad's, Nooks, iPods, Blackberry, or whatever you may have. Take it back old school and just remember the small things go a LONG way.
